Gloucestershire Young Sports Writer of the Year Competition
The Gloucestershire Echo has just launched its Young Reporter of the Year Competition. Children aged nine to sixteen can enter by simply submitting a 200-word write-up on any competitive schools sport, trying to write an informative and interesting news report on competitive school sport. Candidates should consider what is great about competitive school sport or create an interview with their PE teacher, coach or an athlete.
This is all in conjunction with the School Games Competition, a Government funded initiative to get more young people into competitive sport in the lead up to London 2012. With thousands of people involved with the Olympics not being athletes this competition shows that you don’t have to be an athlete to be a part of sport and competition. The top three reports will be published in the Echo and The Citizen, with the winner being invited to work with sports reporters at Cheltenham town FC or Gloucester rugby game.
